Tea Lounge / The Lounge

Tea Lounge is a bar in Oslo that originally opened in the late nineties. In 2017, under new ownership, the popular establishment decided to refresh itself with a new concept, interior and identity. Their idea was to differentiate the bar between daytime, when it is to be known as Tea Lounge, and evening, when it is to be known as The Lounge.

The lighter mood of the afternoon sees the menu focus on teas and regular drinks, after which the bar's ambience changes along with a specialised cocktail menu that suits the vibrant mood of the evening.

As part of the concept, a new visual identity was required that neatly combines and switches between the two names in a playful and sophisticated way.

A bespoke type was designed, inspired by neon lighting that is synonymous with bar signage. The type can be flexibly used for print, digital applications and lighting, while the recognisably consistent style allows each character to be displayed individually.
