Surfshop.no is an online surf retailer in Norway, with a drop-in office in Oslo. They pride themselves on quality products and a quality service: selling the right gear to the right type of surfer. As the surf scene in the cold-water country continues to gain popularity, Norway's "local surf shop" is deeply involved with its development.
The guys at Surfshop.no wanted a new visual identity that would clearly and flexibly communicate their service and their inherent connection to surfing. It needed to represent their unique northerly location – an extraordinary part of the world for surfing.
The logomark combines 3 elements that build from a wave into a mountain that is a typical sight at many surf spots in Norway. It represents the levels of surfer that Surfshop.no cater for (beginner to advanced), while it also takes inspiration from swell and contour lines that represent an adventurous element akin to surfing and the shop's location.
The bold and easily legible logotype makes no confusion as to the self-descriptive brand name and web address. The raised dot is influenced by a degree° symbol that further highlights the shop's adventurous connection, and creates a subtle distinction that this is the Surfshop.
